I began the Natural Spaces series by visiting the edge of civilization; a place I define as any site where infrastructure and development currently exists, but natural vistas still remain. In doing so I started to think about these places as if they were dreams or as if they no longer existed. I used a pinhole camera to exaggerate this effect and to connect my work with the earlier American landscape photographers— many of who's subjects have since been preserved only in their images. I am interested in how these photographs play with nature, time, and the human psyche.
