About
Susan Gillingham (Mom) and Alan Duke, Near Big Sur, California, Summer 2002
I began the Days Like These Daily Photo Project on August 8th, 2003. Since then I have tried to take at least one photo each day. I became interested in photography while sifting through photos following my mother's death. At the time I asked myself what a lifetime of photographs might look like and I wondered if the images could preserve the person taking them? This daily project has given me the freedom to make mistakes, the opportunity to learn about art, and the time to develop a focused body of work. My goal for this project continues as a platform to document and share my life as a photographer and my growth as a person.

This website is organized much like a large, daily calendar. Click on each year to see that year's calendar. Click on each day to see the photo taken on that day. Once on a photo page, you can click the previous or next options to move linearly forward or backward throughout the site. The daily photos taken before 2007 have been removed to save server space. You can see some of my favorite photos from those years in the archive section.

I am a photographer and graphic designer currently living in Santa Monica, California.
